RESEARCH INTERESTS
Mechanochemistry, a new force of green chemical synthesis in its infancy. We are working in systematic studies and quantitative models of the mechanochemical reaction environment to access to new materials and microstructures with outstanding properties in a wide range of applications.
Structural Materials
Structural materials encompass materials whosee primary purpose is to transmit or support a force. Applications can be in transportation, construction, or in components used for body protection, energy production, chemical industry, etc. (1) Ceramic-Metal composites, (2) Core-Rim microstruture, (3) Fracture surface, (4) MAX phase Ti3SiC2, (5) HiRes TEM Ti3SiC2
Biomaterials
They are substance that has been engineering to interact with biological systems for a medical porpuse (therapeutic or a diagnostic one). (6) Based on Ti-High Entropy Alloys
Functional Materials
They are defined as those materials that perform specific fuctions other than possesing a load bearing capacity. (7) Ordered mesoporous silica based (mesoreactors), (8) Boron nitride NanoTubes (electrical insulator and neutron radiation shield)
The Chemistry of Energy Conversion
We focus on catalyst materials synthesized by mechanochemical procedures. They are substances that enables a chemical reaction to proceed at a usually faster rate or under different conditions (as at a lower temperature) than otherwise possible. (9) TEM and SEM images of as-milled and nanostructured perosvkite materials.
